EFFECTIVENESS OF NURSING INTERVENTIONS INMANAGING ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION AMONG WOMENUNDERGOING INFERTILITY TREATMENT
Abstract
Infertility is a significant reproductive health concern that adversely affects the psychological wellbeing of women, often resulting in increased levels of anxiety and depression. Women undergoing infertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) experience emotional distress due to uncertainty, repeated treatment failures, hormonal fluctuations, and societal expectations. This article examines the effectiveness of nursing interventions in managing anxiety and depression among women receiving infertility treatment. Key interventions include psychological counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), educational support, relaxation techniques, expressive therapies, and holistic nursing care. Evidence from recent studies indicates that these interventions significantly reduce emotional distress, enhance coping strategies, and improve overall quality of life. Nurses play a vital role as caregivers, educators, and counsellors by providing continuous emotional and informational support throughout the treatment process. The findings suggest that structured nursing interventions not only improve psychological outcomes but also contribute to better treatment adherence and success rates. However, factors such as financial burden, duration of infertility, and cultural stigma may influence their effectiveness. Integrating comprehensive nursing care into infertility treatment programs is essential for promoting mental health and improving reproductive outcomes.
