Abstract

Obstetric and gynecological nursing plays a critical role in safeguarding maternal and women’s health outcomes through the integration of evidence-based practices across the continuum of care. From preconception counseling to postpartum and reproductive health services, nurses act as frontline healthcare providers who ensure early risk identification, timely interventions, and patient-centered care. Evidence-based practices reduce maternal mortality and morbidity by promoting standardized clinical protocols, minimizing unnecessary interventions, and enhancing maternal satisfaction. Key strategies include antenatal screening, respectful maternity care, skilled birth attendance, postpartum monitoring, and health education. Nurses also contribute to improving neonatal outcomes through practices such as early breastfeeding initiation and skinto-skin contact.
