Abstract

Infertility is a major reproductive health concern affecting millions of women worldwide and is frequently associated with significant psychological distress, including anxiety, depression, and emotional instability, reduced self-esteem, marital dissatisfaction, and impaired quality of life. Women undergoing infertility treatment often experience repeated emotional trauma due to diagnostic uncertainty, financial burden, invasive procedures, social stigma, hormonal fluctuations, and fear of treatment failure. Nurses play a critical role in identifying psychological symptoms, providing emotional support, implementing counseling interventions, promoting coping strategies, and coordinating multidisciplinary care during infertility management. This review article explores contemporary nursing interventions for managing anxiety and depression among women receiving infertility treatment. The article discusses psychosocial challenges associated with infertility, risk factors for emotional distress, psychological assessment methods, therapeutic communication strategies, counseling approaches, stress management techniques, cognitive behavioral interventions, mindfulness-based practices, educational support, digital mental health interventions, and family-centered nursing care. Evidence from recent literature demonstrates that holistic nursing interventions significantly improve emotional well-being, treatment adherence, resilience, and overall quality of life among infertile women. The integration of psychosocial nursing care into infertility services is essential for promoting patient-centered reproductive healthcare. This review emphasizes the importance of evidence-based nursing practices, culturally sensitive counseling, and multidisciplinary collaboration in improving mental health outcomes during infertility treatment
