Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a major global health concern, and psychological stress is increasingly recognized as a significant factor influencing glycemic control. Chronic stress activates hormonal responses, particularly the release of cortisol and catecholamines, which can impair glucose metabolism and contribute to hyperglycemia. Understanding this relationship is essential for improving diabetes management outcomes. This study aims to assess stress levels among patients with T2DM, evaluate their blood glucose status, determine the correlation between stress and blood glucose levels, and examine associations with selected demographic and clinical variables such as age, duration of illness, and regular blood glucose monitoring practices. A cross-sectional correlational research design will be employed among T2DM patients in selected hospitals of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Data will be collected using a structured stress assessment questionnaire along with fasting blood sugar and postprandial blood sugar measurements. Statistical analysis, including Pearson correlation and multiple regression, will be used to examine the relationship between variables. The study is expected to identify a significant association between elevated stress levels and poor glycemic control. The findings will provide valuable evidence for integrating stress management interventions into diabetes care programs. Such interventions may enhance glycemic regulation, improve self-management practices, and ultimately contribute to better health outcomes and quality of life among individuals living with T2DM
