Geo-whisper: A geo-fenced ephemeral anonymous social media platform
Abstract
Nowadays, social media has become the main channel for people to chat, interact and share information, but the vast majority of platforms on the market today require users to register a formal account before they can be used. As long as you want to use the basic functions of these platforms, you must submit information to complete the registration, you cannot skip this step to use it directly. Not only will the user's personal identity information be leaked after registration, but also all the original content you post will be stored by the platform for a long time indefinitely, not actively deleted. The current situation has caused many problems. In particular, it will lead to general privacy concerns. After all, both your personal information and the content you have published are in the hands of the platform, and no one can be completely relaxed. Furthermore, this model also opens the door for the spread of improper remarks, abusive content, spam, and even harmful content, making it impossible to fundamentally curb the spread of this problematic content to influence more people. Precisely because existing platforms have these unsolvable problems, people are in urgent need of a brand-new platform. This platform must not only allow users to communicate completely anonymously, without exposing any real information that can be traced back to themselves, but also limit the visibility range of content. Not only can only people geographically close to the poster view the content, but a time limit must also be added: once the set duration has passed, the content can no longer be viewed. The Geo-Whisper system proposed this time is an anonymous, location-based social media application. It does not require that users sign up for an account as usual. Even for your first visit to the website or launch of your application, you do not need to provide any information to register as a new user. You can directly post your own posts and view the content published by others.
