Use of library management systems in academic libraries

Abstract

A library is an important part of an academic institution. It provides books, journals, newspapers, e-books, and other learning resources to students and teachers. In the past, most library activities were done manually. This required a lot of time and effort. Today, many academic libraries use Library Management Systems (LMS) to manage their daily work. A Library Management System is computer software used to manage library activities such as adding books, searching for books, issuing and returning books, managing members, calculating fines, and preparing reports. It helps librarians work faster and maintain accurate records. This research paper explains the meaning, uses, benefits, challenges, and importance of Library Management Systems in academic libraries.
